And then there were two
Wow, our dams did amazing. Everything went well for our second dam, textbook birth and she picked another sunny day. The alpacas were grazing in the field when contractions began and within 15 minutes of pushing, he was out. We are truly blessed with dark baby boy and a light baby girl! We had bred both dams to Bluegrass Peruvian Rythm & Blues, a true black color champion and blue banner winner. I just absolutely loved the black luster on that male.
Both cria (alpaca babies) are curious, were up and nursing within one hour of birth. Nature is incredible! It’s lovely watching their lanky legs maneuvering across the field. Everyone is doing great, so we couldn’t ask for more. We have a busy week ahead of us: We are picking up more raw alpaca fiber, shearers are coming and our picker and carder will be shipped out soon. Oh, it is all coming together!
